For their thought provoking social and political lyrics and humorous promo videos, one of the major highlights from 80s (to mid-90s) Metal was SUICIDAL TENDENCIES. The band were fore runners in the whole “Crossover” (a mix of Metal and Hardcore and what the younger fans now call “Metalcore”) scene and introduced skateboarding to the Metal world. AARON GRIFFITH from our sister show IRON CITY ROCKS, a huge S.T./INFECTIOUS GROOVES fan, interviews “new” guitarist DEAN PLEASANTS then sits down with us to discuss all things Suicidal. As fun as all our recent interviews and music episodes were it’s good to get back on our original pre-dominantly talk format. As dedicated Metalheads we have to accept the fact that we’re not “normal”. In terms of social/political beliefs and cultural tastes most of us stand apart from Joe and Jane Average. These “normies” also seem to have a natural, built in prejudice against Heavy Metal (particularily the more extreme genres). The sounds and art from our beloved music can really ruffle feathers and often illicit interesting, and sometimes humorous, reactions. Musically we wake the neighbors with some of the usual suspects that consistently commit crimes against “normie” normalcy in DIMMU BORGIR, NECROPHAGIA, and METALLICA. Horns Up!!
